Alumni Weekend at Tidal School continues to get better and better! Top Dog Catering featuring gourmet hot dogs...even a vegan one, will once again offer New York style dogs, Coney Island Chili dogs and a special California Dog with Avocado! Big Rob is rolling out the barbeque with rib dinners and will also have grilled steak and grilled chicken breast sandwiches. 'Jeff, the Pampered Chef Guy' is bringing all the latest in spices and mixes for the gourmet cook as well as the latest in kitchen gadgets. Vonna's Very Fine Creations always has some jewelry for everyone and Stems and Stones will feature decorated glassware for the discriminating tastes.

----------------------------------------------------

Coming June 7th -- Tuscan Night in the Vineyard

A strolling violinist, a warm evening with light breezes, truly good food paired with excellent wine --- what do you have? Tuscan Night in the Vineyard! You have asked us for this and we are finally able to do it. We plan this event for June 7th from 6 til 9 pm.

Your meal will begin with appetizers of bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes and a seahorse (an oyster wrapped with a shrimp wrapped with a strip of bacon topped with mozzarella cheese and baked) followed by a salad -- fresh, crisp vegetables in a light dressing (with Italian bread of course)

Your Choice of Entrees:

- Veal Piccata

- Sherry Mushroom Chicken (a chicken breast done in a slow simmered sauce of sherry and fresh mushrooms & seasonings)

- Grilled Swordfish topped with fresh Mango Salsa

All entrees served with pasta and grilled lightly seasoned, fresh vegetables. Dessert is a Hershey Chocolate Cobbler -- with whipped topping and dusted with powdered sugar.

All courses will be served with wines chosen by the President of Tidal.
All of this for only $49.95!

This will be a smaller event than Tidal School Winery normally does, so early reservations are encouraged. Call Tidal School's toll free number or reserve your tickets online at: Tidal School Winery Events Tickets.

Local Wineries at Cherry Street Farmers Market

Oklahoma Wineries Sign-up Now!

Cherry Street Farmers’ Market & Cherry Street Farmers' Market at Brookside are now accepting applications for vendors at both the Saturday (Cherry Street) and Wednesday (Brookside) Farmers’ Markets in Tulsa. We have received confirmation from the ABLE Commission that wineries may now sell as regular vendors at farmers’ markets (not just at special events).

Our 2008 Market Guidelines state, in part, that 'Products must be 100% Oklahoma-grown or raised and a grower must grow at least 70% of their products. They are authorized to purchase 30% of their total volume of goods sold per market day of their products from an Oklahoma U-pick farm.'

Vendors who feel they may qualify may request the full set of Market Guidelines by emailing: Info@CherryStreetFarmersMarket.com Questions may be directed to that address as well.

The Cherry Street Farmers’ Market is an established market beginning its 11th year of operation.

The Saturday Market season is April 12 – October 4.

The Wednesday Market is open May 7 – October 22. A vendor may choose to sell weekly or just occasionally.

2008 Oklahoma Grape Growers and Wine Makers Association Leaders

This year's OGGWMA Annual Conference has resulted in some major leadership changes and well as changes to the Oklahoma Grape Growers and Wine Makers Association By-Laws.

The new OGGWMA Board includes:

President - Andrew Snyder
Vice-President - David Martin
Secretary - Susan Boehrer
Treasurer - Becky Brinkley
Western Region Director - Rusty Allard
Central Region Director - George Ingles
Eastern Region Director - Bob McBratney
Past President - Gary Butler

Stop by the Oklahoma Grape Growers & Wine Makers Association website and check out all of the new changes for 2008. The news is pretty interesting, heck I even picked up this cool Oklahoma grape growing tip from them:

As you prune this season think about saving the cane at each end of the cordons as late as you can. If a late freeze heads our way pruning the end cane can perhaps delay bud break a day or two. - OGGMWA

There are some changes to the dues and membership setup to check out. Regulatory reform proposals concerning direct sales and shipping will be voted on by our state officials again this year. Oklahoma wineries that were not able to send anyone to the annual meeting can find more information online here.
